Murder 2, A Dark Clueless Murder Mystery : By Chandra Mehendrou

Murder 2’s plot is based on the good versus the evil, the god and the devil. The story revolves around an insane man, an evil soul, a serial killer who cross dresses and worships the devil. Someone who kills prostitutes as well as innocent women. His only agenda is to spread blood shed and the movie showcases violence and deadly murders all throughout. Lots of fake blood, ketchup and a ponderous soundtrack is served to the audience. On the other hand, the protagonist played by Imran Hashmi refuses to beseech god but helps the orphans by giving money to the church. Even though he is a good soul, he leaves his job as a cop to earn more money by treading on to the wrong paths. He loves to scare the goons of Goa and is feared by all.

To make him look meaner, he is made to wear similar looking leather jackets throughout the film. During his free time he makes out with a super model and bluntly claims to be only having fun with her, he even tells her "Hotel mein khaane ke baad koi baitha rehta hain kya?" The super model played by Jacqueline Fernandez, has no clear reason of why she loves someone who dons the weirdest hairstyle inspired by Aamir khan’s look in Rang de Basanti. Even though his heroic goal is to save an innocent girl, he fails to understand the pain of the heroine, who goes through a lot of suffering when he denies being in love with her. He even let’s her wander in a dark night when she is dressed in a red sexy outfit, is bare feet and drunk.

Prashant Narayanan, who plays the psycho serial killer acted well and he makes you dislike him just the way all villains should be. He is surely someone to watch out for. The leading lady does nothing other than showing most of her skin, kissing and making love to the hero. For those who love scintillating skin show this movie is not a waste of money. Even though the movie is well shot and the cinematography is good but it doesn't make you feel good because it’s too butchery and heavy.

The story has many weak points specially the climax and the aid the villain gets from a powerful eunuch with political connections who leaves everything to save the killer in spite of being aware of his crime. You fail to understand why a super model leaves home on a festive occasion to go for a photo-shoot minus a production unit. It's also sad to see that the eunuchs are portrayed to be a devil worshiping group. The abrupt songs break the pace of the story and the songs don't have a long lasting impact.

Murder 2 is better than Murder 1 because it keeps you engaged till the end but you may not want to recommend it to others or even feel like watching it again. If you are looking for Masti Masala and entertainment then this isn't the movie for you. But if you like to watch dark, heavy and clueless murder mysteries then you will surely enjoy it.
